The 2020 General Assembly session will go down in history as a pivotal moment for climate action in Virginia. We moved from the back of the pack to one of the states leading in this fight, thanks to the leadership of the new “Conservation Majority,” which put climate action first.
In passing the Virginia Clean Economy Act, which was signed into law on April 11, lawmakers put Virginia on a trajectory to 100 percent clean energy, ensuring cleaner air for all Virginians and a stronger economy. Early estimates predict the VCEA will create 13,000 jobs a year, opportunities Virginia will need to recover from the current public health and economic crisis.
Passing this type of transformative legislation takes a lot courage. Let your Senator know you appreciate their leadership on climate action in 2020!
