Virginia LCV wins ‘Gold Pollie’ Award for Direct Mail

“American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) recognizes mailer as “Best use of Advocacy/Grassroots Lobbying”

The Virginia League of Conservation Voters is proud to announce that its 2015 direct mail program to protect the Clean Power Plan in Virginia has been awarded a Gold Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), the industry’s highest honor for political communications work.

Working with direct mail vendor Bergmann Zwerdling Direct, the Virginia LCV mailer asked constituents of targeted state Senators to thank their Senator for supporting the Clean Power Plan.  The piece referenced a study by the American Lung Association linking pediatric asthma with poor air quality.

“Grassroots advocacy matters,” said Greta Bagwell, Deputy Director of Virginia LCV.  “That’s why we’re thrilled by the recognition of our work to defend the Clean Power Plan in Virginia.  We’re ready to continue that work in 2016 and beyond.”

The AAPC’s Gold, Silver, and Bronze Pollie Awards are selected by a blind jury of professional peers, and represent the highest honors awarded for political communication.  Founded in 1969, the AAPC is a multi-partisan organization of political and public affairs professionals dedicated to improving democracy. The AAPC has over 1,000 members hailing from all corners of the globe, and is the largest association of political and public affairs professionals in the world.
