A number of conspiracy theories emerged to justify President Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 elections were stolen from him because of widespread voter fraud.

Former Governor Glenn Youngkin took the drastic step of taking Virginia, a founding member of ERIC, out of the program, alongside a number of other questionable decisions impacting Virginia’s voter rolls.
This legislation gets Virginia back into ERIC, paving the way for more accurate voter data, more efficient elections, and better access to voter registration for eligible voters.
SB57 passed both chambers on party-line votes and was signed into law.
