The General Assembly has some major unfinished business: holding the data center industry accountable for raising energy costs and undermining our clean energy future.
In the past year alone, Big Tech’s gotten nearly $2 billion in tax subsidies from the state, while Virginians have seen higher energy bills, landscapes peppered with industrial warehouses, constant noise, and dirtier air.
Lawmakers have not yet finalized a budget deal. This is our last pathway to reining in the data center industry in a way that reduces their environmental impact and furthers our clean energy goals, but lawmakers need to hear from their constituents.
